\n{The link\u00a0in this review\u00a0is for the app but Peanut and I reviewed the online program and we used our computer to access the program.}<\/p>\n

Talking Shapes takes seven stories and introduces all forty phonemes in the English language as well as introduces the alphabet to young children.\u00a0 Every story builds upon what the child has learned in the previous books.<\/p>\n

To access Talking Shapes, you log in through an internet browser.\u00a0 It may take a few minutes to load so please be patient!<\/p>\n

\"TalkingShapes1\"<\/a>
\nOnce loaded you will see a scene with seven books in it.\u00a0 The\u00a0completed books will be filled in and the uncompleted books\u00a0will be grayed out.\u00a0\u00a0The books must be completed in order.\u00a0 There are four sections in each of the books; Story, Letters, Spell, and Read.<\/p>\n

Patrissa & Natalia, who their friends call Pat and Nat, and living in the ancient world and love to tell stories about the letters and alphabet that they have\u00a0invented.\u00a0 While students listen to the entire story they learn the alphabet, their sounds, and how to blend CVC words.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Talking<\/a><\/p>\n

Students are given fun ways to remember how to write the letters.\u00a0 The students trace the letter a few times and then move on to blending them together with other letters they have already learned in the prior books.\u00a0 When blending they trace the letters,\u00a0connect them together and when the letters are connected they hear the blended sound.\u00a0 Peanut did have a bit of trouble connecting the tiles together using a trackpad mouse and\u00a0will ask\u00a0for my help with dragging and dropping.\u00a0\u00a0If your child\u00a0is able to drag and drop with a trackpad mouse then they\u00a0should not have any\u00a0problems with this task.<\/p>\n

\"TalkingShapes2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The students work on spelling CVC words such as hat, cat, pan, man.\u00a0 Each book has three games\u00a0for students to do.\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0Game 1\u00a0the students work on spelling the words\u00a0by\u00a0draw the letters inside the picture.\u00a0 In\u00a0Game 2 the students work on the same set of words but they now draw the letters\u00a0inside the guidelines.\u00a0 Then in Game 3 they work on the same set of words but this time they draw the letters inside the picture without any guides.<\/p>\n

\"Talking<\/a>
\nBefore the student finishes the book they\u00a0listen to the story one more time.\u00a0 The word that is currently spoken is lit up so the student sees it on the screen as well.\u00a0 After the paragraph is read the CVC words scroll across the screen on balloons and the students work on filling in the blanks of the paragraph, one sentence at a time.\u00a0 If the student needs assistance they can click on the lips and the sentence will be read back to them.\u00a0 When they select the correct answer the balloon pops and the word appears on the blank.<\/p>\n

\"Talking<\/a>
\nPeanut loves talking shapes and asks daily to play it!\u00a0 I think it is a nice program overall.\u00a0 Talking Shapes\u00a0has kept Peanut engaged and she asks\u00a0to use it regularly.\u00a0 It has a lot of opportunities to practice tracing the letters and blending as well as learning the sounds.<\/p>\n
