<\/a><\/center>Are you looking for affordable Math curriculum or for workbooks\u00a0on specific topics?\u00a0 Math Mammoth<\/a>\u00a0has many options available in their Blue Series<\/a>\u00a0and Light Blue Series.\u00a0 We had the pleasure of reviewing the\u00a0 PDF download versions of\u00a0<\/span>U.S. Money<\/a>, Clock<\/a>, and Measuring 1<\/a>\u00a0from Math Mammoth’s\u00a0 Blue Series.<\/p>\n![\"Affordable](\"http:\/\/i1202.photobucket.com\/albums\/bb374\/TOSCrew2011\/2017%20Homeschool%20Review%20Crew\/02%20-%20February\/27%20-%20Math%20Mammoth\/Blue-Golden-Green-LightBlue-500x500_zpsachykmi6.jpg\")
<\/a><\/center>\nMath Mammoth’s Blue Series is a series of workbooks that covers a variety of mathematical topics for\u00a0elementary and middle school ages.\u00a0 The topics in the Blue Series includes:\u00a0\u00a0addition, subtraction,\u00a0place\u00a0value, clock, money, measuring, multiplication, division, geometry, statistics, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percent, algebraic thinking, and pre-algebra topics.\u00a0\u00a0PDF downloads allow you to print as many copies as you need for your family.\u00a0 The prices range from $2.20 to $7.40 each.\u00a0 Also, the books include a list of helpful free resources that are available in the Internet.\u00a0 The websites includes various activities and games that you can use right along with the workbook.\u00a0 The Answer Key is available at the end of the book.<\/p>\n
U.S. Money 1 is a 56 page workbook written\u00a0for grades 1-3.\u00a0 Children start off with learning how to count with dimes, nickels, and pennies.\u00a0 Then quarters, half-dollars, and dollars are\u00a0individually\u00a0introduced later on.\u00a0\u00a0Throughout the book,\u00a0children work on adding money, counting change,\u00a0and solving word problems.\u00a0 The pages are done in color, which I highly recommend printing them in color.\u00a0 I like that the coins are pictures of the actual currency because it helps children to see their actual color and design.<\/p>\n

\nWe worked on math every day but\u00a0sometimes it took us more than one day to complete the lesson.\u00a0 My two younger girls did better when we split up the problems over\u00a0two days.\u00a0 It took us about a month to complete Money I.\u00a0 In addition to U.S. Money, Math Mammoth offers workbooks for Canadian Money, British Money, Australian Money, New Zealand Money, South African Money, and European Money.<\/p>\n
We are just beginning Measuring 1 this week.\u00a0 Right now the girls are learning how to measure in inches.\u00a0 They are wanting to measure everything they can.\u00a0 The \u00a0book is for\u00a0grades 1-3 and include topics such as\u00a0measuring length, weight, and volume.\u00a0\u00a0Measuring is set up similar to U.S. Money 1 with helpful resources on the Internet, followed by the lessons, and then the answer key.\u00a0\u00a0In Measuring\u00a0I, children will learn how to measure in inches, centimeters,\u00a0millimeters, meters, and kilometers.\u00a0 They will also learn\u00a0how to\u00a0weight things\u00a0in pounds, ounces, kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.<\/p>\n
Clock is an 80 page workbook for grades 1-3.\u00a0 We have not done this book yet but plan to begin it once we are through with Measuring 1.\u00a0 Students\u00a0learn how to\u00a0tell time\u00a0using an analog clock, learn about elapsed time,\u00a0as well as learning how to use a calendar.\u00a0 I like how much practice the girls will get telling time on the clock as well as through word problems.<\/p>\n
Overall, I am very pleased with the books from Math Mammoth.\u00a0 They are engaging the girls and the girls are enjoying them.\u00a0 Even though they are printed in color and some pages are\u00a0busy I didn’t find either to be a distraction for my girls.\u00a0 I do plan on buying a couple of the other books to supplement our current math curriculum.\u00a0 I recommend checking out the topics in the Blue series as well as the grade\u00a0specific books in the Light Blue Series.<\/p>\n
