Psalm 18<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cI love You, O Lord<\/span>, my strength.\u201d
\nThe Lord<\/span> is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,<\/span>
\nMy God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;<\/span>
\nMy shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.<\/span>
\nI call upon the Lord<\/span>, who is worthy to be praised,<\/span>
\nAnd I am saved from my enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

The cords of death encompassed me,<\/span>
\nAnd the torrents of ungodliness terrified me.<\/span>
\nThe cords of Sheol surrounded me;<\/span>
\nThe snares of death confronted me.<\/span>
\nIn my distress I called upon the Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\nAnd cried to my God for help;<\/span>
\nHe heard my voice out of His temple,<\/span>
\nAnd my cry for help before Him came into His ears.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Then the earth shook and quaked;<\/span>
\nAnd the foundations of the mountains were trembling<\/span>
\nAnd were shaken, because He was angry.<\/span>
\nSmoke went up out of His nostrils,<\/span>
\nAnd fire from His mouth devoured;<\/span>
\nCoals were kindled by it.<\/span>
\nHe bowed the heavens also, and came down<\/span>
\nWith thick darkness under His feet.<\/span>
\nHe rode upon a cherub and flew;<\/span>
\nAnd He sped upon the wings of the wind.<\/span>
\nHe made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him,<\/span>
\nDarkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.<\/span>
\nFrom the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,<\/span>
\nHailstones and coals of fire.<\/span>
\nThe Lord<\/span> also thundered in the heavens,<\/span>
\nAnd the Most High uttered His voice,<\/span>
\nHailstones and coals of fire.<\/span>
\nHe sent out His arrows, and scattered them,<\/span>
\nAnd lightning flashes in abundance, and routed them.
\n<\/span>Then the channels of water appeared,<\/span>
\nAnd the foundations of the world were laid bare<\/span>
\nAt Your rebuke, O Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\nAt the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He sent from on high, He took me;<\/span>
\nHe drew me out of many waters.<\/span>
\nHe delivered me from my strong enemy,<\/span>
\nAnd from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.<\/span>
\nThey confronted me in the day of my calamity,<\/span>
\nBut the Lord<\/span> was my stay.<\/span>
\nHe brought me forth also into a broad place;<\/span>
\nHe rescued me, because He delighted in me.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Lord<\/span> has rewarded me according to my righteousness;<\/span>
\nAccording to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.<\/span>
\nFor I have kept the ways of the Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\nAnd have not wickedly departed from my God.<\/span>
\nFor all His ordinances were before me,<\/span>
\nAnd I did not put away His statutes from me.<\/span>
\nI was also blameless with Him,<\/span>
\nAnd I kept myself from my iniquity.<\/span>
\nTherefore the Lord<\/span> has recompensed me according to my righteousness,<\/span>
\nAccording to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

With the kind You show Yourself kind;<\/span>
\nWith the blameless You show Yourself blameless;<\/span>
\nWith the pure You show Yourself pure,<\/span>
\nAnd with the crooked You show Yourself astute.<\/span>
\nFor You save an afflicted people,<\/span>
\nBut haughty eyes You abase.<\/span>
\nFor You light my lamp;<\/span>
\nThe Lord<\/span> my God illumines my darkness.<\/span>
\nFor by You I can run upon a troop;<\/span>
\nAnd by my God I can leap over a wall.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As for God, His way is blameless;<\/span>
\nThe word of the Lord<\/span> is tried;<\/span>
\nHe is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.<\/span>
\nFor who is God, but the Lord<\/span>?<\/span>
\nAnd who is a rock, except our God,<\/span>
\nThe God who girds me with strength<\/span>
\nAnd makes my way blameless?<\/span>
\nHe makes my feet like hinds\u2019 feet<\/i>,<\/span>
\nAnd sets me upon my high places.<\/span>
\nHe trains my hands for battle,<\/span>
\nSo that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.<\/span>
\nYou have also given me the shield of Your salvation,<\/span>
\nAnd Your right hand upholds me;<\/span>
\nAnd Your gentleness makes me great.<\/span>
\nYou enlarge my steps under me,<\/span>
\nAnd my feet have not slipped.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I pursued my enemies and overtook them,<\/span>
\nAnd I did not turn back until they were consumed.<\/span>
\nI shattered them, so that they were not able to rise;<\/span>
\nThey fell under my feet.<\/span>
\nFor You have girded me with strength for battle;<\/span>
\nYou have subdued under me those who rose up against me.<\/span>
\nYou have also made my enemies turn their backs to me,<\/span>
\nAnd I destroyed those who hated me.<\/span>
\nThey cried for help, but there was none to save,<\/span>
\nEven<\/i> to the Lord<\/span>, but He did not answer them.<\/span>
\nThen I beat them fine as the dust before the wind;<\/span>
\nI emptied them out as the mire of the streets.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You have delivered me from the contentions of the people;<\/span>
\nYou have placed me as head of the nations;<\/span>
\nA people whom I have not known serve me.<\/span>
\nAs soon as they hear, they obey me;<\/span>
\nForeigners submit to me.<\/span>
\nForeigners fade away,<\/span>
\nAnd come trembling out of their fortresses.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The Lord<\/span> lives, and blessed be my rock;<\/span>
\nAnd exalted be the God of my salvation,<\/span>
\nThe God who executes vengeance for me,<\/span>
\nAnd subdues peoples under me.<\/span>
\nHe delivers me from my enemies;<\/span>
\nSurely You lift me above those who rise up against me;<\/span>
\nYou rescue me from the violent man.<\/span>
\nTherefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, O Lord<\/span>,<\/span>
\nAnd I will sing praises to Your name.<\/span>
\nHe gives great deliverance to His king,<\/span>
\nAnd shows lovingkindness to His anointed,<\/span>
\nTo David and his descendants forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
