<\/a><\/center> <\/p>\nWhen we began to homeschool I knew that I would like our children to study Latin.\u00a0 Recently, we had\u00a0the blessing of reviewing the\u00a0Prima Latina Complete Set<\/a>\u00a0by Memoria Press<\/a>, a great introductory Latin program for early elementary students.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There is also a Prima Latina Copybook<\/a> also available to purchase.<\/p>\n Prima Latina is a gentle\u00a0introduction to Christian Latin for children in grades first through fourth.\u00a0 It is designed for a parent with no background in Latin.\u00a0 The course is set up to complete one lesson a week, either once per week or spread over the course of the week.\u00a0 You can teach the lessons yourself or watch the lessons on DVD.<\/p>\n In this course, students will learn: seven parts of speech, simple introductions to tenses derivatives, conjugations, & declensions, 125 Latin vocabulary words, numbers 1 through 10, and basic constellations.<\/p>\n In Prima Latina there are a total of 25 lessons, plus 5 review lessons.\u00a0 For every\u00a0lesson there are two pages of\u00a0material followed by two pages of\u00a0exercises.\u00a0 After every five lessons there is a review lesson with\u00a0one page of review and three pages of exercises.\u00a0 There are tests (available in the back of the teacher’s manual) to follow the reviews.<\/p>\n During every lesson students will cover, practical Latin, the lesson, vocabulary, Latin prayers, and derivatives.\u00a0\u00a0Then exercises will follow where\u00a0students will review information from previous lessons, answer questions from the current lesson, translate Latin words, practice speaking (also listening to tracks on the Prima Latina CD), writing exercises, and have some\u00a0fun practice activities.<\/p>\n The\u00a0teacher manual\u00a0is set up just like the student book, and includes all of the answers to the exercises.\u00a0 In the back of the teacher manual, there is a vocabulary appendix, general teaching guidelines, reproducible pages, and tests & test keys.<\/p>\n The appendix\u00a0includes\u00a0the vocabulary words in alphabetical order,\u00a0vocabulary words in order by parts of speech, and\u00a0a list\u00a0of\u00a0the practical Latin sayings taught in the lessons.<\/p>\n Sweet Pea\u00a0has been enjoying the Latin lessons from Prima Latina.\u00a0 She is interested in languages and has picked up Latin lessons quickly.\u00a0 We are watching the lessons together on DVD and I am helping her as needed.<\/p>\n Sweet Pea has learned\u00a0how to\u00a0say hello, goodbye, and stand up\u00a0to one person as well as how to say the same words when more than one person is present.<\/p>\n She is also learning Latin prayers.\u00a0 Throughout the course she will memorize at total of\u00a0four Latin Prayers: The Sanctus, The Table Blessing, The Pater Noster (Our Father or Lord’s Prayer), and The Doxology.<\/p>\n At our recent homeschool convention I picked up the\u00a0Prima Latina Copybook<\/a> to add to Sweet Pea’s Latin lessons.\u00a0 She is working on cursive and the Prima Latina Copybook is done in New American Cursive.\u00a0 The copybook includes\u00a0practicing writing the alphabet as well as\u00a0one page of copywork\u00a0 per lesson and one page per review lesson.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Memoria Press\u00a0offers the following\u00a0Latin<\/a> products:<\/p>\n Please check out supplements that are also available on the Latin<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/p>\n Social Media Links:<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Please click the banner below for Homeschool Review Crew reviews for: Prima Latina Complete Set<\/a>, Latina Christiana Complete Set<\/a>, First Form Latin Complete Set<\/a>, Second Form Latin Complete Set<\/a>, Third Form Latin Complete Set<\/a>, Fourth Form Latin Complete Set<\/a>, The Book of Trees<\/a>, and Nature’s Beautiful Order<\/a>.<\/p>\n![\"Prima](\"http:\/\/i1202.photobucket.com\/albums\/bb374\/TOSCrew2011\/2017%20Homeschool%20Review%20Crew\/06%20-%20June\/05%20-%20Memoria%20Press%202\/Prima%20Latina%20Complete%20Set_zpsu3qwavwb.jpg\")
