\"Whistlefritz\"<\/a><\/center> <\/p>\n

Whistlefritz<\/a>\u00a0makes learning foreign languages through immersion fun for\u00a0young kids!\u00a0 We had the opportunity to review the Educator’s Spanish Collection<\/a>\u00a0with Train Buff and Munchkin.<\/span>\"Whistlefritz<\/a><\/p>\n

Whistlefritz is a\u00a0language\u00a0immersion program for children ages 1-7.\u00a0 Students are taught Spanish completely in Spanish through kid friendly lessons and activities.<\/p>\n

Included in the Educator’s Spanish Collection<\/a><\/span>\u00a0is a\u00a0Lesson Plan Book, 5 DVDs, 3 CDs, and a 50 card deck of Spanish Matching cards.<\/p>\n

The Educator’s Spanish Collection has a total of 40 easy lessons that cover vocabulary and sayings.\u00a0 Lessons take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the things your children will learn: colors, animals, numbers, items in your house, &\u00a0how to say hello, goodbye, and\u00a0goodnight.<\/p>\n

The Lesson Plan Book is set up in a teacher and parent friendly format.\u00a0 Lessons are scripted so even someone who is not familiar with the language can teach it.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0each lesson, there is a description of the lesson, the goals, the objectives, vocabulary, materials, and the\u00a0time.\u00a0 Then there is an activities section with the focus of the activity, teacher input, guided practice, independent practice, and extension activities.<\/p>\n

For the teacher, everything in the lesson plan book is written in\u00a0English. Then everything spoken to the children is written in Spanish in parenthesis.<\/p>\n

Example from Lesson 3:<\/p>\n

“What do you notice on the presents?” (\u00bfQu\u00e9 observan sobre los regalos?) Numbers. (N\u00fameros.)\u00a0 “How many presents does Fritzi have? Let’s count them.” (\u00bfCu\u00e1ntos regalos tiene Fritzi? Vamos a contarlos.)<\/p>\n

\nIf you have little or no knowledge of Spanish pronunciations I do recommend listening to the CDs and\u00a0DVDs referred to in the lessons before teaching the lesson.<\/p>\n

All master pages\u00a0are included with the individual lesson and you have permission to make copies for your classroom.<\/p>\n

The 5 DVDs and 3 CDs come\u00a0in a 4 case set with a sleeve for storage.\u00a0 They\u00a0are referenced to throughout the lessons and the lyrics are also\u00a0included in the lessons.\u00a0 Both Spanish and English\u00a0subtitles are available on the DVDs so you can learn right along with your children!<\/p>\n

The included 50 card\u00a0deck of Spanish Matching Cards.\u00a0 There are 25 pairs of cards with pictures of Fritzie doing different activities like brushing his hair, walking, washing his hands, reading, etc.\u00a0 There are four different colored backgrounds making it easier to pull out a small set of\u00a0pairs without having to go searching through the entire deck for the matching cards.<\/p>\n

I worked through a few of the lessons with Munchkin (3) and Train Buff (young 5).\u00a0 They are not used to structured lessons at their young age and they did alright.\u00a0 Both preferred the DVDs over the lessons and activities.\u00a0 I played the DVDs and CDs\u00a0throughout the day for them.\u00a0 In one of the pictures below, Munchkin is pointing to the perro and saying, “Perro.\u00a0 Woof.\u00a0 Perro.\u00a0 Woof.”<\/p>\n

The videos were a combination of\u00a0an adult talking and children responding along with\u00a0puppets and animations.\u00a0 It is presented in such a fun\u00a0way that it kept the attention of\u00a0both Train Buff and Munchkin and they learned a lot of Spanish vocabulary.\u00a0 Munchkin’s favorite DVD is ‘Los Animales’ and Train Buff’s favorite is ‘Vamos a Jugar’.<\/p>\n

Whistlefritz<\/a>\u00a0also offers a Educator’s French Collection<\/a> (which is also being reviewed by fellow Homeschool Review Crew).<\/p>\n
