\nHomeschooling\u00a0has been\u00a0gaining momentum\u00a0not only in the United States but\u00a0in other countries around the world.\u00a0\u00a0Apologia Educational Ministries<\/strong><\/a> has created a video\u00a0course for homeschool moms called <\/span>How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook)<\/b><\/a>.\u00a0 It is a course not only for those who are\u00a0just starting out in their homeschool journey but\u00a0for those who have been at it for a while.\u00a0\u00a0I had the pleasure of being to review this\u00a0course.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/a><\/center> <\/p>\n

How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus<\/b><\/a>\u00a0is a 15 session course with a coursebook and 2 DVDs.\u00a0 The DVDs come in a clamshell case and the coursebook is a paperback book (not spiral bound like in the picture).<\/p>\n

The hosts, Rachael Carman & Leslie\u00a0Nunnery sit down\u00a0to discuss different aspects of homeschooling from starting out\u00a0through\u00a0graduation.<\/p>\n

Here is what is covered in the How to Homeschool course:<\/p>\n

Chapter 1: How to Get the Most Out of This Course

\nChapter 3: Finding Support
\nChapter 4: Choosing Curriculum
\nChapter 5: Practical How-To’s (Nuts and Bolts)

In every chapter there is a\u00a0reading segment (a couple of pages)\u00a0in the coursebook, followed by\u00a0a short 15 minute DVD session to watch,\u00a0then an assignment\u00a0to be completed.<\/p>\n

The assignments are written assignments, applying what has been discussed in the video sessions.\u00a0\u00a0Assignments\u00a0include printing the state laws, making a\u00a0schedule, and\u00a0brainstorming.<\/p>\n

This is a\u00a0great course to do on your own or in a small group.\u00a0 It would even make a great course to\u00a0offer at a co-op\u00a0to moms while their children are in\u00a0classes.<\/p>\n

My thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have taken away so much from working through this course.\u00a0 When it was first offered\u00a0for\u00a0review I requested it thinking it would be a great resource for\u00a0me to check out. Something that I could refer to when I was talking to someone about homeschooling.\u00a0 What I didn’t expect was how much I gleaned from it and am able to apply it to my own family!<\/p>\n

As a part of the assignment\u00a0for Chapter\u00a03 we are\u00a0told visit the HSLDA website and\u00a0to print the laws out from their website for our records.\u00a0 HSLDA did not have a direct link to the home education\u00a0statutes for my state, at least\u00a0for non-members they didn’t.\u00a0\u00a0I suggest annually\u00a0printing out a copy of the home education\u00a0state statutes directly\u00a0from your state’s website that way you know exactly what they are and where to find them should the need arise.\u00a0\u00a0As well as you should print out any laws that directly affect your child such as being able to participate in athletics (It is the Craig Dickinson Act here in FL), receiving special education services, or taking classes at the local\u00a0public school.\u00a0 Like Rachael Carman & Leslie\u00a0Nunnery suggested I agree\u00a0it is very\u00a0important to know\u00a0the laws for your state, inside and out!<\/p>\n

With adding our 4th child to the homeschool mix this year\u00a0and our 5th is close behind, the dynamics are starting to change again for our family.\u00a0 They will be changing again in the next couple of years as our oldest\u00a0begins middle school.\u00a0 Chapter 8\u00a0spoke to me and has given me ideas on how to plan our homeschool days in relation to appointments, trips, etc.<\/p>\n

In a later chapter we are encouraged to stretch in ways that we have not been stretched before.\u00a0\u00a0It is too easy just to do what is familiar and not take a step out into unchartered waters.\u00a0 I will be making a point to stretch myself more\u00a0and encourage the kids to stretch themselves as well.<\/p>\n

I am also considering changing things around in our homeschool based on what I have learned through this course.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook)<\/b><\/a>\u00a0 to homeschoolers, those who are just beginning their homeschool journey, or those who are looking into homeschooling.<\/p>\n
