My girls and I have been exploring\u00a0Aviation History<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with Doctor Aviation<\/a><\/strong>. We received a 6 month subscription to review and we have been enjoying learning all about aviation!<\/p>\n

\"Doctor<\/a><\/center> <\/p>\n

Daryl Smith is Doctor Aviation.\u00a0 He spent over 24 years in the Air Force,\u00a0was a Command Pilot with over 2,000 flying hours.\u00a0\u00a0He also\u00a0has experience as an instructor pilot, a research pilot, and was an\u00a0instructor at the United States Air Force Academy.\u00a0 He is currently a college professor.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Doctor Aviation is a semester long online\u00a0course created\u00a0for aviation enthusiasts of any age.\u00a0 The course\u00a0has a total of 15 lessons and is done in a lecture format.\u00a0\u00a0Every lesson is about an hour and length and broken down into multiple segments (Technical Trivia, Notable Innovators, and Legendary Events).<\/p>\n

Some of the things that you will learn in Doctor Aviation will be the major components of an airplane, axes & forces,\u00a0radars, air traffic control,\u00a0the Wright Brothers, Amelia Earhart, Chuck Yeager, Alvin \u201cTex\u201d Johnston, the first\u00a0flight at Kitty Hawk, lessons learned from crashes, &\u00a0breaking the sound barrier.<\/p>\n

Included with every lesson are guided notes and resources.\u00a0 They are found at the bottom of every lesson.\u00a0 While my kids are younger and didn’t use the guided notes, I printed them for myself and used them to review with the kids what we learned about.\u00a0 The resources include websites to explore, videos to watch, field trip suggestions, books and articles to read as well as activities to further study the subject.<\/p>\n

The Doctor Aviation Interface<\/strong><\/p>\n

The interface of Doctor Aviation is very user friendly!\u00a0 When I log into my account it brings me to the dashboard.\u00a0 The menu on the left allows me to get quickly back to my dashboard, view the video course list, and log out.\u00a0 On the main screen of the dashboard is the next video in queue, the course progress, and account information.\u00a0\u00a0There is a link to view the next video in queue.\u00a0 The course information includes how many days you have been working on the course and\u00a0the percentage of the course completed.\u00a0 The account information gives you a quick glance at when your subscription expires along with a link that takes you to your payment information.<\/p>\n

When you view the video course list the videos are organized in order of the lessons.\u00a0 Click on the lesson that you want and\u00a0it will pull up the lesson that you requested.\u00a0 On the lesson page, you can view the lesson,\u00a0mark the lesson as complete, download the course notes & resources, and toggle between the lessons.<\/p>\n

Our Thoughts<\/strong>
\nMy kids are loving\u00a0Doctor Aviation!\u00a0\u00a0Trying to watch\u00a0the entire lesson at once turned out to be information overload for\u00a0my kids who are all 9 & under.\u00a0\u00a0We are using the natural break in between every\u00a0segment in the lessons\u00a0as stopping points.\u00a0 Then, with the\u00a0Guided Notes,\u00a0we review what we saw in the segment.\u00a0 This has been working great for us!<\/p>\n

The kids\u00a0enjoy the pictures of planes they have seen in Doctor Aviation.\u00a0 Their favorite so far has been the P-40 Warhawk around the 41:00 mark in Lesson 2.\u00a0 They still talk about the plane that has the shark teeth on it.<\/p>\n

The kids were very\u00a0excited to find out that Amelia Earhart was homeschooled (through 6th grade)!<\/p>\n

We look forward to the remainder of the Doctor Aviation lessons and recommend Doctor Aviation to anyone who is interested in learning more about aviation.<\/p>\n
