\"Rigid<\/a><\/center> <\/p>\n

The Rigid Wrap and CelluClay Quik-Sculpting Kit comes with\u00a02 – 4″ x 5 yard\u00a0rolls of Rigid Wrap,\u00a01 –\u00a08oz. package of CelluClay, and instructions for 12 projects.\u00a0 Rigid Wrap are plaster strips and CelluClay is a paper mache mix.<\/p>\n

Before beginning you will want to plan what you want to make and gather the needed supplies. Check the ACT\u00cdVA Products’ Favorite Sculpture KIDS CRAFTS e-book for some fun ideas.<\/p>\n

The ACT\u00cdVA Products’ Favorite Sculpture KIDS CRAFTS<\/a><\/strong> e-book is a 29 page idea book with 12 projects and 2 pages with a few templates.\u00a0 Every project consists of two pages.\u00a0 The first page has a sample photo along with the skill level, expected duration, and materials needed.\u00a0 The second page has more sample pictures and the step by step directions to complete the project.\u00a0 The directions are easy to follow, even for a beginner.\u00a0 Most of the projects take 1 to 3 hours, not including dry time, so these are not quick projects.<\/p>\n

My girls decided that they each wanted to make a bowl with the Rigid Wrap.\u00a0 We followed the directions in the ACT\u00cdVA Products’ Favorite Sculpture KIDS CRAFTS<\/a>\u00a0free e-book for the Peppermint Candy Bowl.<\/p>\n

We used a small Pyrex bowl (see the picture below) in hopes that\u00a0we would have enough Rigid Wrap to make three bowls.\u00a0 There was!\u00a0 The directions do recommend a smooth bowl verses the rigid bowl that we chose.<\/p>\n

Note: The candy bowl is listed as an intermediate project. As beginners I found this project to be simple for a first time project.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first step is to\u00a0cut strips of Rigid Wrap and mix\u00a0CelluClay in a ziplock bag.\u00a0 The CelluClay mixed very well.<\/p>\n

In the next step, we had to wrap the bottom of the\u00a0bowl with clear plastic wrap.\u00a0 Smooth out the plastic wrap as best as you can.\u00a0 Every little crease will show up in you bowl.<\/p>\n

In step 3, it says to add Rigid Wrap until it creates a coating of 1\/4″ to 3\/4″ thick.\u00a0The three bowls were around 1\/4″ thick each.\u00a0\u00a0To do this step all you do is dip the strips in a bowl of warm water and place\u00a0on the bowl in different directions.\u00a0\u00a0The girls had fun with this section!<\/p>\n

In Step 4, we remove the actual bowl from the Rigid Wrap bowl.\u00a0 The plastic wrap makes this process quick and smooth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In Step 5 we created the rim of the bowl using strips of Rigid Wrap folded in half.\u00a0The girls wanted me to\u00a0do this part for them.\u00a0I tried this with the first bowl and it was a bit difficult.\u00a0 What I found\u00a0worked was cutting 1″\u00a0vertical strips to make them 1″\u00a0x 4″.\u00a0 This helped keep the rim straighter and helped in the uneven places on the bowl.<\/p>\n

After Step 5 you need to allow time for your project to dry.\u00a0 There is an option to dry it in the microwave in 2 minute increments but we allowed them to dry overnight.<\/p>\n

We forgot about Step 6 and went straight to Step 7 which was paint the bowl, if desired.<\/p>\n

Step 6 is adding the clay shapes to the bowl for decorations.\u00a0 Since\u00a0the girls started to paint before we realized that we missed this step,\u00a0we decided to not add the clay shapes to the bowls.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0played with the clay and let the girls play with it as well.<\/p>\n

While I was trying to cut out shapes with a cookie cutter\u00a0I ran into a couple technical difficulties. First\u00a0I\u00a0tried making\u00a0shapes with cookie cutters.\u00a0 I noticed the CelluClay crumbled when\u00a0the excess mix was\u00a0pulled\u00a0from the outside of cutter as well as the shape lost its shape.\u00a0 The shape itself also crumbled apart.\u00a0 Sweet Pea made\u00a0similar comments about it while she was playing with it.<\/p>\n

I did notice the clay stayed together when rolled into a ball or when applied to the side of an object\u00a0 I think it would do really well if you wanted to make something like a pi\u00f1ata\u00a0or\u00a0even\u00a0making a bowl and use the Rigid Wrap as\u00a0the base.\u00a0 If I had more Rigid Wrap I would have tried it<\/p>\n

While I was using the CelluClay, I did a quick search looking for tips.\u00a0 The most popular tip was adding a little bit of school glue when mixing the clay with water.\u00a0 I added some school glue and it helped tremendously with the crumbling but not keeping the shape.<\/p>\n

The Rigid Wraps makes a mess but it is very easy to clean up.\u00a0 It took me just a couple of minutes to have our dining room table cleaned up after we were through making the bowls.<\/p>\n

I look forward to\u00a0try adding\u00a0CelluClay with the Rigid Wrap when we get more Rigid Wrap.\u00a0 The girls are already talking about their next project!\u00a0 They have their eyes set on a larger bowl in our kitchen so they can make a larger bowl.<\/p>\n
