Psalm 35<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Contend, O Lord<\/span>, with those who contend with me;
\nFight against those who fight against me.<\/span>
\nTake hold of buckler and shield<\/span>
\nAnd rise up for my help.<\/span>
\nDraw also the spear and the battle-axe to meet those who pursue me;<\/span>
\nSay to my soul, \u201cI am your salvation.\u201d<\/span>
\nLet those be ashamed and dishonored who seek my life;<\/span>
\nLet those be turned back and humiliated who devise evil against me.<\/span>
\nLet them be like chaff before the wind,<\/span>
\nWith the angel of the Lord<\/span> driving them<\/i> on.<\/span>
\nLet their way be dark and slippery,<\/span>
\nWith the angel of the Lord<\/span> pursuing them.<\/span>
\nFor without cause they hid their net for me;<\/span>
\nWithout cause they dug a pit for my soul.<\/span>
\nLet destruction come upon him unawares,<\/span>
\nAnd let the net which he hid catch himself;<\/span>
\nInto that very destruction let him fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

And my soul shall rejoice in the Lord<\/span>;<\/span>
\nIt shall exult in His salvation.<\/span>
\nAll my bones will say, \u201cLord<\/span>, who is like You,<\/span>
\nWho delivers the afflicted from him who is too strong for him,<\/span>
\nAnd the afflicted and the needy from him who robs him?\u201d<\/span>
\nMalicious witnesses rise up;<\/span>
\nThey ask me of things that I do not know.<\/span>
\nThey repay me evil for good,<\/span>
\nTo<\/i> the bereavement of my soul.<\/span>
\nBut as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth;<\/span>
\nI humbled my soul with fasting,<\/span>
\nAnd my prayer kept returning to my bosom.<\/span>
\nI went about as though it were my friend or brother;<\/span>
\nI bowed down mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.<\/span>
\nBut at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together;<\/span>
\nThe smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,<\/span>
\nThey slandered me without ceasing.<\/span>
\nLike godless jesters at a feast,<\/span>
\nThey gnashed at me with their teeth.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Lord, how long will You look on?<\/span>
\nRescue my soul from their ravages,<\/span>
\nMy only life<\/i> from the lions.<\/span>
\nI will give You thanks in the great congregation;<\/span>
\nI will praise You among a mighty throng.<\/span>
\nDo not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me;<\/span>
\nNor let those who hate me without cause wink maliciously.<\/span>
\nFor they do not speak peace,<\/span>
\nBut they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.<\/span>
\nThey opened their mouth wide against me;<\/span>
\nThey said, \u201cAha, aha, our eyes have seen it!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

You have seen it, O Lord<\/span>, do not keep silent;<\/span>
\nO Lord, do not be far from me.<\/span>
\nStir up Yourself, and awake to my right<\/span>
\nAnd to my cause, my God and my Lord.<\/span>
\nJudge me, O Lord<\/span> my God, according to Your righteousness,<\/span>
\nAnd do not let them rejoice over me.<\/span>
\nDo not let them say in their heart, \u201cAha, our desire!\u201d<\/span>
\nDo not let them say, \u201cWe have swallowed him up!\u201d<\/span>
\nLet those be ashamed and humiliated altogether who rejoice at my distress;<\/span>
\nLet those be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves over me.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Let them shout for joy and rejoice, who favor my vindication;<\/span>
\nAnd let them say continually, \u201cThe Lord<\/span> be magnified,<\/span>
\nWho delights in the prosperity of His servant.\u201d<\/span>
\nAnd my tongue shall declare Your righteousness<\/span>
\nAnd<\/i> Your praise all day long.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
