As I sat down to write this post I just realized I never blogged about this year’s convention, after I attended the convention.\u00a0 I did write one post, Marvelous Monday<\/a>, before the convention.\u00a0 Here is my experience about my\u00a0First Convention<\/a>\u00a0in 2014.\u00a0 My local homeschool convention is the largest convention in the country.\u00a0 It can be overwhelming the first time you attend.\u00a0 It honestly isn’t bad the second year because you already know what to expect.<\/p>\n

This year I got to attend a lot more workshops than last year.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 I\u00a0joined a couple of ladies from my church\u00a0for a\u00a0couple of the workshops.\u00a0 The show floor was just as crazy but I wasn’t overwhelmed when walking it\u00a0to it this year.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0\u00a0My hubby and I spoke with Se\u00f1or Gamache at La Clase Divertida<\/a>\u00a0and purchased\u00a0Level 1.\u00a0 Here is my review<\/a>\u00a0of Level 1.\u00a0 He was also\u00a0one of the\u00a0workshop speakers.\u00a0 I missed his workshop (and I cannot remember why because it was on my list to be there)\u00a0but I\u00a0have listened\u00a0to the audio file of it.\u00a0\u00a0Like last year, I recommend buying audio files of the convention workshops so you can listen to the other workshops that you didn’t attend.\u00a0\u00a0I play them in the car and also while I am doing things around the house.\u00a0 There were a few other companies that I hadn’t seen before and there were a few others who I hoped would be there but they were not.<\/p>\n

I do recommend fitting conventions and conferences into the budget if at all possible.\u00a0 If you cannot make it to a convention then check out if there are any conferences in your area.\u00a0 They tend to be smaller and less expensive and you won’t have to travel as far and may be able to make it a day trip.<\/p>\n

The FPEA is\u00a0has a\u00a0Special Needs Conference for Gifted and Struggling Learners<\/a>\u00a0this weekend in Orlando.\u00a0 Andrew Pudewa from IEW, Hal and Melanie\u00a0Young, and Heather Laurie are a few\u00a0speakers who are supposed to be there!\u00a0\u00a0 There is only one day of workshops with an actual\u00a0lunch break\u00a0in the schedule compared to two full days and no lunch break scheduled at the convention in May.\u00a0 I cannot compare the show floor because\u00a0FPEA has not posted a list of who is going to be there.\u00a0 I am guessing it is going to be a lot smaller than the convention in May.<\/p>\n
