This is our first time using a\u00a0lap-pak from Home School in the Woods and it\u00a0is amazing!!\u00a0 If you have never made a lap book before this is a very good one to start with.\u00a0 Home School in the Woods has laid everything<\/span> out for you!\u00a0 You are given step by step directions throughout the entire process from the beginning\u00a0until the finished product.\u00a0 Detailed pictures of every\u00a0step from filling out the pages to assembling in the lap book!\u00a0 The suggested\u00a0grades to work on this\u00a0lap-pak are grades 3-8 but\u00a0you can use it with older\u00a0and younger children as well.\u00a0 I used this with Sweet Pea who\u00a0will be\u00a0eight soon.<\/p>\n

I appreciate that the majority of the supplies needed to complete this\u00a0lap-pak can be found around the house and are inexpensive if any needed to be purchased.\u00a0\u00a0The project directions are broken down into detailed steps.\u00a0 Each step lists the supplies you need, which paper to print the pieces on, and step by step directions on completing the individual project.\u00a0 Pictures are also included for assembling the project.\u00a0 It made it very easy for me to print everything on the proper paper, what supplies I needed for each project, and how everything was assembled.<\/p>\n

Included in the lap-pack is a 24 page reading booklet.\u00a0 The reading text can be printed in two different ways, either in booklet or binder format.\u00a0 If printed in booklet format, the completed size is 5.5″ x 8.5″ and in the binder format the pages will be 8.5″x 11″.\u00a0 Step by step instructions are given for printing the reading text.\u00a0 If your printer doesn’t have the duplex feature there are instructions on which pages are printed together to form the book.<\/p>\n

*Note: If you have any problems with page placement when printing in duplex mode make sure “Flip on Right Edge” is selected.<\/p>\n

An audio copy of the booklet is provided as 2 MP3 files.\u00a0 Home School in the Woods provides the location\u00a0of every project on the track so you can easily find the audio reading for the project you are working on.\u00a0 I like the option of having an audio file available as an alternative to reading the booklet.<\/p>\n

There are a few different options of putting together the lap book.\u00a0 Home School in the Woods provided detailed descriptions on how to put together the lap book and where to place everything\u00a0in the lap book.\u00a0 We chose to\u00a0assemble the pages in a book with\u00a0comb binding per Sweet Pea’s request.\u00a0 We have a comb binder, which she loves to use and we used colored card stock for the pages.\u00a0 Sweet Pea chose the fall colors for her card stock.\u00a0 Other ways of putting the book together\u00a0is using a binder to store all of the pages\u00a0or in a lap book (as shown in their directions).<\/p>\n

As we were putting together the lap book Sweet Pea kept exclaiming, “Mom, this is awesome!” and “I love this!”\u00a0 I was very excited to see how excited she was as she was putting together this lap book.\u00a0 She has asked for me to read her the pages in the book and asks to look through it a lot.\u00a0 This will definitely something we will be keeping for a long time!<\/p>\n
