Math Mammoth’s Blue Series is a series of workbooks that covers a variety of mathematical topics for elementary and middle school ages. The topics in the Blue Series includes: addition, subtraction, place value, clock, money, measuring, multiplication, division, geometry, statistics, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percent, algebraic thinking, and pre-algebra topics. PDF downloads allow you to print as many copies as you need for your family. The prices range from $2.20 to $7.40 each. Also, the books include a list of helpful free resources that are available in the Internet. The websites includes various activities and games that you can use right along with the workbook. The Answer Key is available at the end of the book.
U.S. Money 1 is a 56 page workbook written for grades 1-3. Children start off with learning how to count with dimes, nickels, and pennies. Then quarters, half-dollars, and dollars are individually introduced later on. Throughout the book, children work on adding money, counting change, and solving word problems. The pages are done in color, which I highly recommend printing them in color. I like that the coins are pictures of the actual currency because it helps children to see their actual color and design.

We worked on math every day but sometimes it took us more than one day to complete the lesson. My two younger girls did better when we split up the problems over two days. It took us about a month to complete Money I. In addition to U.S. Money, Math Mammoth offers workbooks for Canadian Money, British Money, Australian Money, New Zealand Money, South African Money, and European Money.
We are just beginning Measuring 1 this week. Right now the girls are learning how to measure in inches. They are wanting to measure everything they can. The book is for grades 1-3 and include topics such as measuring length, weight, and volume. Measuring is set up similar to U.S. Money 1 with helpful resources on the Internet, followed by the lessons, and then the answer key. In Measuring I, children will learn how to measure in inches, centimeters, millimeters, meters, and kilometers. They will also learn how to weight things in pounds, ounces, kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.
Clock is an 80 page workbook for grades 1-3. We have not done this book yet but plan to begin it once we are through with Measuring 1. Students learn how to tell time using an analog clock, learn about elapsed time, as well as learning how to use a calendar. I like how much practice the girls will get telling time on the clock as well as through word problems.
Overall, I am very pleased with the books from Math Mammoth. They are engaging the girls and the girls are enjoying them. Even though they are printed in color and some pages are busy I didn’t find either to be a distraction for my girls. I do plan on buying a couple of the other books to supplement our current math curriculum. I recommend checking out the topics in the Blue series as well as the grade specific books in the Light Blue Series.
