It is the end of day 1 of the FPEA Convention. I wanted to share some photos before turning in for the night. I have two long, fun filled, packed days ahead of me. Please don’t be surprised if I don’t share anything else until after the convention is over.
My husband and I took Sweet Pea with us this year. I think she was just as excited as I was to go but for different reasons. I am looking forward to getting to see so many vendors and attend many workshops while she is looking forward to two things…stopping by to see her Spanish teacher, Señor Gamache at his booth and the pool.
We arrived at the hotel about mid-afternoon and got checked-in. Here is the view from our hotel window.
Afterwards, we walked over to the convention center to check in for the convention. By then the exhibit hall was OPEN! If you have never been to the FPEA Convention the exhibit hall is huge! Sixteen aisles packed full of curriculum, games, toys, and gadgets, fun things for mom, a handful of colleges, some teen business, and much more. Every year you can depend on the regulars who are there every year, the ones who rotate between the other homeschool conventions in the country, and brand new to the convention.
I like to start at one end of the hall and work my way through. One of the first booths I stopped at was the SchoolhouseTeachers.com booth and met a fellow crew member. Later I returned to meet a couple others that are affiliated with the crew as well. We did stop by and see Señor Gamache. Here is a picture of him and Sweet Pea.
Sweet Pea got her face painted by some girls who were offering to paint children’s faces while their moms visited the booth.
When I was in elementary school poppers made with paper was popular. It is hard to describe them. You would write hidden words under tabs, write something on the tab, and I cannot remember if anything was written on the outside. Anyways, you would manipulate them in your hands to figure out what got opened when. At one of the booths Sweet Pea got to make one. I will have to take a picture of it completed some time this weekend and share it.
David and Sweet Pea were looking through an Art book at the Veritas booth. The picture below that Sweet Pea is working through an activity at another booth.
In this photo Sweet Pea is using a robot at a booth. This is another item that I will have to elaborate more on later but basically it is something that a child builds themselves over a period of time. It is really cool.
After getting through 5 aisle of 16 it was about 30 minutes before closing so we decided to call it a night, I ran over to the SchoolHouseTeachers.com booth to say hello to someone who wasn’t there earlier. We called it an evening after we were done there and headed out to dinner.
Have a blessed evening!
