Convention Weekend Day 3

If you have ever been to a homeschool convention then you understand by the second day of the convention you are already on Homeschool Convention Overload!  There is a lot to see and a lot of information to process, even for someone like me who has a few homeschooling years under the belt.  A lot of excitement as well!

I wanted to share the greeting that we get as we  walk in between the hotel and convention center.  There is a welcome sign right as we enter the walkway.  Just beyond it there is a set of easels with pictures of all of the seniors that will be graduating.

Yes!  The FPEA offers a graduation ceremony for homeschool families.  They make it a weekend for the seniors.  They have activities for the graduates on Friday and Saturday morning.  Then their graduation rehearsal is Saturday afternoon.  I am sure there are other things that they do but that is what is listed on the website.

So on Saturday morning, I didn’t make it to the keynote address before it began.  By the time I got there it was standing room only.  So, I listened to a little bit and then went to wait until the exhibit hall opened.

Afterwards, I did a little shopping before attending the first workshop of the day.  I am sad to say it was the ONLY workshop of the day that I made it to.  It was ‘Science Little Learners Love’ by Cheryl Bastian.

We visited her booth later on in the day and Sweet Pea had a lot of fun there, including doing the ‘Planting Station

We visited the Gatorland booth again per Sweet Pea’s request.  Sweet Pea decided that she did want to hold the baby gator.

I mentioned on Day 1 that I got to meet some people affiliated with the Homeschool Review Crew at the SchoolhouseTeachers.com booth.  We took a group picture Saturday.

The next three photos are of the exhibit hall.  We were about in the middle of the room and the entrance was behind me in these photos.  The first picture is to the left of me.  The vendors went all the way to the tan wall that you see.  The second picture is facing the back of the exhibit hall.  They don’t go all the wall to the back hall but just past the furthest polls in the picture.  I don’t have a picture facing the front of the exhibit hall from where I was standing but picture it just about the same distance as it is looing at the back of the hall.  The final photo is to the right of me.  Again the vendors going all the way to the tan wall.  The exhibit hall is huge!

Some of the vendors had activities for the kids to do.  Sweet Pea was playing with kinetic sand while I had been talking with the vendor.

Here is Sweet Pea relaxing and reading a book while I was making a decision on whether or not to catch the last workshop of the day.  She is holding Hope in the picture below that one.  Hope is one of the characters from the book.

I decided to call it a day instead of going to the last session.  Sweet Pea had been patiently waiting to go swimming and for me to watch her go down the monster slide.  I was ready to kick back and relax in the pool.  So we went swimming and ate dinner by the pool.

It is hard to believe the convention is through for the year!  If you have any questions about the convention please feel free to ask!

Over the next week or two, I will share the rest of the photos from the weekend as well as some of the things that we purchased.

If you missed my other posts about the convention weekend here they are!
